Movie Review: 'Incredible Burt Wonderstone' Needs More Tricks ...

Steve Carell plays a struggling Vegas magician who desperately needs a new act, and after seeing this, I'm convinced he still needs one.

He's a flamboyant and arrogant magician who needs to brush up on his skills. Steve Carell quickly runs out of tricks in The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.

At first glance you would think this is going to be a good movie with talents like Steve Buscemi, James Gandolfini, Alan Arkin, Oliva Wilde, and Jim Carrey. Sadly, it's not.

The film is stale and boring as Carell's act at the beginning of the film. I never thought an hour and a half movie could drag, but this one did.

Jim Carrey (who plays the Cris Angle Character) is the new guy in town and Carell's rival, steals just about every scene he's in....but even he can't save this movie.

Is this a redemption movie ?No, to me it felt more like a live action cartoon, without the laughs. It's rying to be an edgy comedy and it just doesn't work.

Plain and simple, the movie is not great because of the a poor script. Even with a great cast the magic just isn't there.

The flick-o-meter gives The Incredible Burt Wonderstone a two out of five. Just like real magic, comedy, in this case, is deceptive. When it shows up, if it does at all, it disappears quickly.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone simply isn't.

The move is currently showing in Culver City at Pacific Culver Stadium 12, 9500 Culver Blvd.
