I try not to?anthropomorphize?animals, but you know what? Humans are animals. If we can enjoy the company of creatures wildly different than us: pets, horses, this guy I know who sells real estate and votes Conservative ? why can?t animals? Take hunger off the table and all kinds of cute bonding happens. It?s not anthropomorphizing. It?s what birds, mammels and maybe some other big-brained critters do. And it?s damn cute.

(AP) ? Rep. Paul Ryan, the powerful chairman of the House Budget Committee, is endorsing Mitt Romney for the Republican presidential nomination.

There had been speculation the Wisconsin Republican would fall into the Romney column, and Ryan did so Friday morning in an interview on Fox News Channel's "Fox and Friends."

Ryan says Romney is best suited to beat President Barack Obama.

He also says that Romney has emerged as the candidate most deserving of the GOP rank and file's backing. Ryan tells Fox he's convinced that Romney "has the skills, the tenacity and the courage" to lead the party in the race against Obama this fall.

He also says he's convinced that "if we drag this thing on through summer, it's going to be harder" to turn Obama out of office.

Does The Truth Help Or Hurt Relationships? |

Post image for Does The Truth Help Or Hurt Relationships?

By Kristin Denton

Remember how your relationship was in the very beginning?

?

You stayed up all night talking about everything ? your dreams and desires and even the things that scare or embarrass you. But then, as the relationship went a long, you stopped talking about so much. Everything became so heavy and meaningful.

?

In the beginning, things were great. There was a level of trust and open communication that created intimacy and understanding. So, what happened to that? Where did it go and how can you get it back?

?

I used to try to protect my partner from those heavy, bad moods and ugly thoughts. I went to my room and hung out until I felt like socializing again.

?

I thought I was noble in my ability to control what came out of my mouth.

?

I thought I was kind because I never let on what I was thinking.

?

But what I was doing was ruining my relationships. There was no relationship. I was cutting myself off from others and never allowing them to know me. They never knew what I was thinking or feeling or needing.

?

I was an island. A very lonely island.

?

I really thought that if I let people know the ugly thoughts, not only would they be hurt ? but they would probably become angry and disown me ? betray me, talk shit behind my back. I would be the outcast.

?

So I beat them to the punch! Hah! I?d banish myself to my own room (or apartment, as I got older). I?d banish myself to silence.

?

You can either have a N.I.C.E. (Not Interested in Connecting Emotionally) relationship? where you hide what is true out of fear. Or you can have an alive, real relationship with intimacy, compassion and understanding.

?

Some people withhold from their partner and add an extra zinger ? they put on a show of pain and discomfort in order to punish them. It?s an effort to communicate just how much pain they?re in. But none of it?s verbalized. It?s a show of the pain.

?

When you start keeping secrets and withholding,.. when you cut off the sharing of life force between you,? you?re cutting off the intimacy in your relationship. Even if you think you?re protecting your partner from painful or embarrassing thoughts ? it?s still destroying your relationship.

?

Relationships require sharing? both our dreams and desires along with our doubts and fears.

?

What are you feeling and what needs of yours are being met or not? ?

?

I?m happy because my need for support in keeping our home is being met.

?

I?m disappointed because my need for partnership isn?t being met in the way we?re handling our finances.

?

I?m sad because my need for connection isn?t being met when you?re out with your friends every evening.

?

You can find out more about this style of intimate communication, along with other advice on building healthy, intimate relationships, at our website: www MagicRelationship dot com.

?

Another tip: when you offer your feelings and needs, it?s best to follow them with a request. If you offer them without a request, your partner won?t know why you?re giving them the information.

?

Do you want to be just heard?

?

Do you want advice?

?

Do you want to come up with a strategy for meeting your needs? Why the heck are you telling me this?

?

Often, a comment without a request will be taken as blame? which will lead to fixing, fighting or fleeing. Don?t leave your poor partner hanging.

?

Paul and I recommend asking, ?Would you tell me what you heard me say?? (Avoid saying ?could?- it implies they aren?t intelligent enough to repeat you. And avoid saying ?What did I say?? because what you said and what they heard are two different things.)

?

And one more tip: don?t think that little behaviors are enough to be warranted as ?sharing feelings and needs.? Fixing your honey a cup of coffee in the morning is very sweet, but it may not communicate your feelings of love and contentment like actually verbalizing the information. ?I love you so much?, PLUS the cup of coffee goes much further.

?

Frowning and throwing around the bed covers while you make the bed may not adequately communicate your feelings and needs, either.

?

Instead, say: ?I?m feeling disappointed because my need for support around the house isn?t being met. Would you be willing to discuss a way to help that would also meet your needs??

?

There?s no room for misinterpretation there.

?

Try it out this holiday season: make a pact with your beloved to share absolutely ALL your feelings and needs for one day ? the good, the bad and the ugly. Then follow the information with a request.

?

Be prepared to spend some time processing and discussing those feelings and needs as they come up.

?

However, try to avoid getting into BLAMING and ?FAULT? behind the feelings and needs. That tends to end up in a free-for-all about evaluations and judgments ? who?s right and who?s wrong. Try to stick with feelings, needs and requests.

?

Try to do this on a day when you?ll have the time.

?

You won?t want to get cut off because you have to run to pick up the kids right when you?re getting to the heart of an issue that?s snuck up silently between you.

?

You?re going to want to stay and hold each other and talk it through? and feel the intimacy of clearing out all of those old, crusty feelings and unmet needs that have been clogging the flow of love.

5 Reasons Why Travel Accident Insurance Is A Necessity | car ...

When it comes to travel accident insurance, it is highly essential for those travelling inside and outside their country. Since any kind of accidents and mishaps may occur during travelling, travellers should safeguard their economic risks with the aid of travel accident insurance. Although accidents are not usually sought by the insured, they can nevertheless get reimbursed for a portion or whole of the property that they lose while travelling. The following paragraphs outline 5 reasons which make travel accident insurance a necessity.

1.To cover majority health risks during travel, you can avail a travel medical insurance. The coverage includes ?Evacuation? and ?Travel Medical? that provides safety insurance during travelling. This insurance covers any sort of illness, accident or emergency over short term, such as 5 days or long term such as a year.
2.Travel insurance also covers accidental death and dismemberment cases. No matter where you are in the world, you will be provided 24-hour coverage for such cases. The coverage begins when you leave your home or office until you reach your travelling destination. However, eligibility is a must.

3.If you avail an insurance coverage for business travel, your company acts as the guarantor for your insurance.

4.Travel insurance only covers the conditions specified under the policy and nothing beyond. All losses, policies, and conditions must be specified in the policy and should have the agreement of the insurer and the insured. Any exceptions cannot be covered by the insurance as per the insurance policy. Many times, activities, which may be harmful or dangerous, are not covered by insurance firms because that increases their chances of incurring a loss. In addition, deadly incidents such as diseases, non-accidental bacterial infections, and self-destruction or suicide attempts are not covered by the travel accident insurance. This prevents insurers to obtain insurance for self-harming activities.

5.Majority Travel Accident Insurance Plans set payments in accordance to the amount agreed upon to the benefactor that you select. In cases such as accidental death or other unpredictable incidents, the benefactor receives the payment on your behalf. You can also change your benefactor with prior notification after all the insurance procedures have been completed. For cases of accidental death, your benefactor will generally be paid a lump sum amount of cash. If your benefactor wishes, he or she can deposit the entire sum or a portion of it to any of your established personal account. Money can be withdrawn against checks when required.

Travel insurance has numerous benefits to you as a traveller, especially if you do not know the kind of travel you are headed for. Any unforeseen hazards or incidents will be covered and compensated by the insurance company providing they satisfy the agreed terms. So, if you are travelling to a foreign region, make sure you have travel insurance so that your travelling proves to be beneficial. Although we don?t look forward to hazards or accidents, insurance gives us a coverage that, even though, may not restore the actual value of the loss incurred, especially in accidental deaths or dismemberment, but can minimize the loss by allowing a decent compensation.

Electricity and carbon dioxide used to generate alternative fuel

ScienceDaily (Mar. 29, 2012) ? Imagine being able to use electricity to power your car -- even if it's not an electric vehicle. Researchers at the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science have for the first time demonstrated a method for converting carbon dioxide into liquid fuel isobutanol using electricity.

Today, electrical energy generated by various methods is still difficult to store efficiently. Chemical batteries, hydraulic pumping and water splitting suffer from low energy-density storage or incompatibility with current transportation infrastructure.

In a study published March 30 in the journal Science, James Liao, UCLA's Ralph M. Parsons Foundation Chair in Chemical Engineering, and his team report a method for storing electrical energy as chemical energy in higher alcohols, which can be used as liquid transportation fuels.

"The current way to store electricity is with lithium ion batteries, in which the density is low, but when you store it in liquid fuel, the density could actually be very high," Liao said. "In addition, we have the potential to use electricity as transportation fuel without needing to change current infrastructure."

Liao and his team genetically engineered a lithoautotrophic microorganism known as Ralstonia eutropha H16 to produce isobutanol and 3-methyl-1-butanol in an electro-bioreactor using carbon dioxide as the sole carbon source and electricity as the sole energy input.

Photosynthesis is the process of converting light energy to chemical energy and storing it in the bonds of sugar. There are two parts to photosynthesis -- a light reaction and a dark reaction. The light reaction converts light energy to chemical energy and must take place in the light. The dark reaction, which converts CO2 to sugar, doesn't directly need light to occur.

"We've been able to separate the light reaction from the dark reaction and instead of using biological photosynthesis, we are using solar panels to convert the sunlight to electrical energy, then to a chemical intermediate, and using that to power carbon dioxide fixation to produce the fuel," Liao said. "This method could be more efficient than the biological system."

Liao explained that with biological systems, the plants used require large areas of agricultural land. However, because Liao's method does not require the light and dark reactions to take place together, solar panels, for example, can be built in the desert or on rooftops.

Theoretically, the hydrogen generated by solar electricity can drive CO2 conversion in lithoautotrophic microorganisms engineered to synthesize high-energy density liquid fuels. But the low solubility, low mass-transfer rate and the safety issues surrounding hydrogen limit the efficiency and scalability of such processes. Instead Liao's team found formic acid to be a favorable substitute and efficient energy carrier.

"Instead of using hydrogen, we use formic acid as the intermediary," Liao said. "We use electricity to generate formic acid and then use the formic acid to power the CO2 fixation in bacteria in the dark to produce isobutanol and higher alcohols."

The electrochemical formate production and the biological CO2 fixation and higher alcohol synthesis now open up the possibility of electricity-driven bioconversion of CO2 to a variety of chemicals. In addition, the transformation of formate into liquid fuel will also play an important role in the biomass refinery process, according to Liao.

"We've demonstrated the principle, and now we think we can scale up," he said. "That's our next step."

The study was funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E).

NYC Bans Halloween, Birthdays, Aliens and More on School Tests ...

Students in New York City's public schools cramming for tests can delete words like birthdays, junk food, Halloween, dinosaur and even dancing from study lists.

References to such words have been banned from city-issued tests in an edict issued by the city's Department of Education for fear the words could "appear biased" or "evoke unpleasant emotions" in students.

The department included the list of 50 banned topics in a recently issued request for proposals to companies interested in creating new versions of tests given to New York City students throughout the year to measure progress in ?English, math, science and social studies.

"Some of these topics may be perfectly acceptable in other contexts but do not belong in a city- or state-wide assessment," reads the request, first obtained and reported on by the New York Post.

Dinosaurs, the Post reports, were banned because they reference evolution, which fundamentalist students might not agree with.? Birthdays are not celebrated by Jehovah's Witnesses and Halloween suggests paganism, so they are not allowed, and so is dancing because some sects object, according to the paper.

Also on the list of topics that companies are asked to stay away from are "creatures from outer space," homes with swimming pools, computers, vermin, junk food, abuse, terrorism, divorce, any references to disease and holidays."

A spokeswoman for the Department of Education told the Post the banned topics do not constitute censorship but a way for "students to complete practice exams without distraction."

The city is in line with creating guidelines for its tests but the list of forbidden topics runs twice as long as one recently issued by a group of states, according to the Post.

Companies have until April 23 to submit their proposals.

The results of student testing in New York City public schools gained an even higher profile earlier this year when the Education Department released data estimating the performance ?of more than 12,000 teachers in the city's public schools.? The teacher evaluations, released in February, are based primarily on how students in their classrooms perform on the city's standardized tests.

After Brain Injury: The Power of Pets in Rehabilitation | Psychology ...

Want a rehabilitation partner who offers unconditional love, acceptance, and motivation? Get a dog! Highly trained assistance, therapy, and service dogs have been in the news as companions for wounded service members, autistic children, and disabled adults. Melissa Fay Greene's powerful story, "Wonder Dog," in The New York Times followed the Winokur family as they integrated Chancer the golden retriever into their family to help their son Iyal. Chancer was custom trained by the wonderful nonprofit corporation 4 Paws for Ability to attach to Iyal and help him reduce the fearsome rages that resulted from fetal alcohol syndrome.

Therapy dogs help wounded service members stick with occupational therapy, calm the intrusive images of PTSD, and navigate with prosthetic legs.

Family pets have their own valuable role in helping a person recover after brain injury. When my husband Alan suffered a severe anoxic brain injury?following a heart attack and cardiac arrest, our dog Molly became his steadfast rehab partner and constant companion.

Molly the rehab coach
Alan was hospitalized for four months of intensive medical treatment and brain injury rehab. When he came home, he was just starting to regain his abilities to read, write, walk, speak, and remember. He struggled to relearn all the self-care activities we take for granted, including organizing his morning routine, and following through on a task. Apraxia, the inability to perform complex motor movements due to memory loss, made it harder to put clothes on in the right order.

Alan talked to Molly all day. One morning I called upstairs to Alan, "Honey, put your clothes on and come downstairs for breakfast." As I flipped pancakes in the kitchen I heard Alan conferring with Molly.

"Molly, did you hear what Janet just told me to do?" he said. "Well, that's not easy you know. First you have to put on socks and make sure they match. You have to get your shoes on the right feet, but not until your pants are on. And hold the railing so you don't fall down the stairs."

On and on he went, as Molly sat attentively by with her head cocked to hear every word. Alan was right about the complexity of the task. Getting dressed activated several areas?of his brain. The instruction was processed in the parietal lobe and sequenced in the temporal lobe. His working memory kicked in as he sequenced his clothes, and walking down the stairs required motor skills controlled by the cerebellum. By talking to Molly, Alan learned to cue himself. ?They both showed up for breakfast with brains in high gear.

Molly the psychotherapist
Molly was also gave Alan an enormous amount of emotional support. When he felt anxious,?he talked it over with Molly. When I returned from a quick errand, Alan said, "Molly was worried, but? I wasn't. I told her you said you'd be back in 20 minutes. I told her we'd be safe."

A few weeks after Alan came home, he fell into the throes of?post-traumatic stress disorder?? caused by? all of the trauma, pain, and loss he'd experienced. For several nights, Alan sat bolt upright in the bed, hyperventilating and screaming, "They're trying to kill me, they're choking me!" His eyes were as large as saucers, and sweat soaked his body. Alan had been resuscitated for almost one hour, intubated and on a ventilator, and forcibly restrained many times during his early recovery. Now his body and mind were paying for those experiences.

If I had not been a psychiatric RN, I might not have recognized Alan's night terrors as PTSD. Each time it happened, I put the lights on, sat him on the edge of the bed with his feet on the floor, and wrapped my arm around his shoulders. I said gently, "You're OK, Alan. You're safe in our home. I'm here with you. Take a breath. Nothing bad can happen to you." I stroked his back softly until he became oriented and calmed down. An extra dose of anti-anxiety medication helped him get back to sleep.

During this time period, Molly slept at the foot of our bed. One night we were awakened by Molly yipping and flailing around in a dream. I asked, "Alan, do you want me to put Molly on the floor so you can sleep?"

He said, "Oh no! This is what I do for my dog. You watch. Alan lifted Molly on to his lap and stroked her fur, and said, "You're OK, Molly. Daddy's here. Nothing bad is going to happen to you." When Molly was alert and calm, Alan gently moved her to her spot on the bed.

"See, that's how I take care of my dog," he said as he dozed off. By soothing Molly in the same way I soothed him, Alan also learned how to soothe himself. We used several approaches to?treat Alan's PTSD (more in future posts), but Molly was an irreplaceable part of the treatment.

Molly the personal trainer
Molly also featured prominently in Alan's goals. One of the first goals he set was to be able to walk Molly safely by himself. First, we worked on crossing the street to the local park and finding his way home. When he mastered that, he and Molly became walking pals. Each time Alan bent down to fasten her harness, he asked, "Do you trust me, Molly?" Do you feel safe with me?" Her wagging tail signaled assent, so off they went. They both enjoyed the exercise and stimulation of their walks.

Molly contributed to Alan's healing process in multiple ways that only a devoted and intuitive dog could.

French investigators focus on gunman's brother

PARIS (AP) ? The brother of an Islamist fanatic behind a deadly shooting rampage in France celebrated his martyr-like death and may have helped him, police and a lawyer said Saturday.

Counterterrorism authorities are expected to decide early Sunday whether to file preliminary charges against 30-year-old Abdelkader Merah, who has been under questioning for four days over killings in southern France that stunned the country and refocused attention on the threat of radical Muslim militants.

His brother Mohamed Merah died in a hail of gunfire Thursday after a standoff with police during which he claimed responsibility for attacks that killed three Jewish schoolchildren, a rabbi and three paratroopers. Merah claimed allegiance to al-Qaida and told police he traveled to Afghanistan and Pakistan for training.

In Pakistan, intelligence officials said Saturday that 85 French Muslims have been training with the Taliban in northwest Pakistan and are examining whether Mohamed Merah was part of this group. Merah traveled to Pakistan in 2011 and said he trained with al-Qaida in Waziristan.

The Merahs' mother was in police custody for three days before she was released late Friday.

A lawyer for 55-year-old Zoulhika Aziri said her world had been "turned upside down." ''She is devastated," Jean-Yves Gougnaud told reporters in the southern city of Toulouse. "At no time could she have imagined that her son was the one who did it."

Investigators are focused now on older brother Abdelkader Merah, who was flown to Paris for further questioning Saturday along with his girlfriend, Yamina Mesbah.

Police union spokesman Christophe Crepin told reporters that detectives have already gathered evidence to suggest that Abdelkader Merah had "furnished means (and) worked as an accomplice." Crepin refused to comment further.

Abdelkader had already come under police radar. He was questioned several years ago about alleged links to a network sending Toulouse-area youths to Iraq, but no action was brought against him at the time.

His girlfriend's lawyer, Guy Debuissou, said that Abdelkader "celebrated" the death of his brother, who died firing his guns and jumping out a window.

The lawyer said investigators are trying to determine whether Abdelkader could have led Mohamed toward fundamentalism, and whether "Mohamed was the only one to have been under his sway or whether there are other Mohameds out there."

The girlfriend denied any involvement in what happened, Debuissou told The Associated Press. The couple married according to Muslim custom in 2006, but did not undergo the civil ceremony required in France for a marriage to be recognized, the lawyer said.

Mohamed Merah had filmed himself carrying out attacks that began March 11 and killed three Jewish schoolchildren, a rabbi and three French paratroopers with close-range shots to the head, prosecutors say. Another Jewish student and a paratrooper were wounded, and five police officers were injured.

Key questions include how Merah was able to amass an arsenal of weapons ? including an Uzi sub-machinegun ? and rent a car, despite having no clear source of income.

French intelligence chief Ange Mancini told broadcaster BFM-TV that Merah told police during the siege that he bought the weapons for about ?20,000 ($26,000), using money he acquired through break-ins and holdups.

Mancini said he believed that Merah was telling the truth about that, but suggested that forensic police would be examining the guns for clues as to where Merah got them.

"The weapons, too, will talk," Mancini said.

Gun violence is far rarer in France than in the U.S., where laws are less restrictive. French civilians are banned from owning automatic weapons or handguns, with few exceptions, and licensing is strictly controlled.

That said, hunting is very popular in France and the country has one of the Western world's highest levels of private gun ownership, coming in at No. 12 worldwide, according to the University of Sydney's GunPolicy.org website. The group rates the level of French weapons smuggling as "moderate."

Leader of Coptic Orthodox Church in Middle East

The Irish Times - Saturday, March 24, 2012

Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria:?POPE SHENOUDA III of Alexandria, who has died aged 88 after suffering from prostate cancer, was for four decades the spiritual leader of the Coptic Orthodox Church, the largest Christian community in the Middle East. In his native Egypt he was patriarch to seven to 11 million Copts ? the government of the predominantly Muslim country giving a lower estimate than the church ? and another four million worldwide.

Coptic congregants, worshipping in a tradition that goes back to the earliest days of Christianity, held ?Baba Shenouda? in high regard. Yet his pontifical reign was marked by controversy. While inter-communal strife saw thousands of Copts leave Egypt, critics blamed him for politicising his office and exacerbating matters, either through over-assertiveness or timidity. Egypt?s 2011 uprising threw such tensions into starker relief.

Ten years into his papacy, Shenouda had famously fallen out with president Anwar Sadat; in September 1981 he was summarily dethroned and banished to an ancient desert monastery. Reinstated by Sadat?s successor, Hosni Mubarak, in January 1985, the Coptic pope, 117th in a line of leaders that began with St Mark, achieved considerable successes. The ordination of deaconesses was resumed after an interval of several centuries, and he brought women into theological colleges and councils, though he was against them becoming priests.

Shenouda also represented Coptic lay and political interests in Egypt and fostered ties with wealthier Coptic diasporas in the US, Canada, Europe, South Africa and Australia.

However, he was beset by problems in his final years and past troubles came back to haunt him, too. In 1976 he dismissed a rebellious deacon, Max Michel, who in 2005 was declared a bishop by an Orthodox organisation in Nebraska, and the following year crowned himself Archbishop Maximus I, head of a rival St Athanasius Church. Michel claimed God had deserted Shenouda?s congregation and that more than a million Copts had become Muslims or evangelical Christians. While Michel attracted little support, he caused much rancour.

Shenouda developed a close working relationship with Mubarak. Initially he discouraged Copts from taking part in the demonstrations that led to Mubarak?s overthrow in February 2011.

Faced with January 2012?s elections to a parliament dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood and conservative Islamists, many Copts supported the liberal, secular Muslim-Christian Egyptian Bloc, which achieved fourth place. Others formed Coptic parties, a move Shenouda had resisted.

He was born Nazir Gayed, the youngest of eight children in Asyut, southern Egypt, moved to Cairo at 16 and served as a novice at St Anthony?s Church school. In 1947, he gained a BA in history from Cairo University, fought as an officer in the Arab-Israeli war the following year and then taught English in a high school.

In 1949, he graduated from the Coptic Orthodox Theological Seminary. Four years later, he began teaching at the Monastic School in Helwan and became professor of Old Testament studies. All the while he dabbled in classics and archaeology; he wrote poetry and penned newspaper opinion pieces.

Gayed entered the El Suryan (St Mary) monastery in 1954. From 1956 to 1962, he lived in a cave and experienced ?complete freedom and clarification?. His teacher was the charismatic Fr Matta el-Meskin (Matthew the Poor), later to become an opponent. Sadat offered Matta the papacy in place of Shenouda in 1981.

Recalled from the hermit?s life, Gayed became dean of the Coptic Seminary and bishop for religious education with the saintly name of Shenouda. Within seven years, enrolment of part-time students had grown tenfold.

Shenouda was appointed personal secretary to the newly elected pope Kyrillos VI in 1959. After Kyrillos died in 1971, Gayed was enthroned as His Holiness Shenouda III, pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of All Africa.

More ebullient than his predecessor, he inspired the growth of churches outside Egypt and the number of bishops rose from 20 to 83. But life beyond the cloisters proved more perilous. In September 1981, Sadat arrested Shenouda along with 1,500 other ?opposition figures?. He banished Shenouda to Wadi Natrun. A month later, Sadat was assassinated.

Eventually Mubarak recalled Shenouda to the papal seat. Vowing to be a turbulent priest no more, Shenouda told a welcoming party of 10,000 at St Mark?s Cathedral: ?We Christians and Muslims are like organs in one body, which is Egypt.?

He often met Egypt?s supreme Muslim cleric, Sheikh Mohammed Tantawi, and championed Arab causes. He backed the Madrid conference of 1991 intended to further the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. For 20 years, Shenouda?s Ramadan breakfasts helped repair Muslim-Coptic rifts. Shenouda visited pope Paul VI in Rome in 1973 and signed a declaration of common faith. This marked the first meeting between Alexandrine and Roman pontiffs since 451. In 1989 he signed a similar concordat with his Orthodox brothers, and in 2000 he welcomed pope John Paul II to Egypt.

His comments on Jews often sailed close to crass anti-Semitism and he rebuffed calls to soften Coptic strictures on divorce.

On January 1st last year, 23 people were killed outside a Coptic church in Alexandria. When Egypt?s revolution began later that month, the sight of Christians chanting alongside Muslims in Tahrir Square, Korans and crosses held aloft, momentarily dispelled fears of sectarian carnage. But after Mubarak?s departure 12 died as extremists attacked churches in Cairo?s poor Imbaba district in May. When thousands of Copts took to the streets to protest against the state?s demolition of an ?unlicensed? church in Aswan, the resulting military crackdown left 27 people dead.

Shenouda hailed the victims as martyrs, ?beloved children whose blood does not come cheap?. Yet he faced defiance from the Maspero Youth Union, Copts who condemned the governing Supreme Council of the Allied Forces. There was therefore urgency in Shenouda?s call for national unity at a Christmas service in St Mark?s at the beginning of January this year. This month?s visit by Muslim Brotherhood leaders to Shenouda echoed that sentiment, as did the Maspero Youth?s slogan at cathedral prayers for the ailing pope: ?Your people love you.?

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Rick Santorum is falling so far behind Mitt Romney in the race for Republican convention delegates that his best chance to narrow the gap might be in states that voted weeks ago.

Santorum is trying to improve his lot in states like Iowa and Washington, where local caucuses were the first step in selecting delegates to the party's national convention. In those states and a few others, supporters are now preparing for county, congressional district and state conventions, where the campaigns hope to keep their delegates and possibly poach some from other candidates.

Santorum's delegate count could use a boost. He trails Romney by 300 delegates and would need to win 74 percent of the delegates in the remaining primaries to clinch the nomination before the national convention in August.

Katy Perry really wants to hook up with Rihanna, on a song at least. The two have teased fans for quite some time about getting together and making a track to please both the Katy Cats and the Rihanna Navy.

When MTV News sat down with Katy during "MTV First: Katy Perry" — airing Wednesday (March 21) at 7:23 p.m. ET on MTV, followed by a 30-minute chat on MTV.com — the singer opened up about the pressure she feels to make the collaboration happen.

"I've always wanted to and she's always wanted to and that's very genuine," she explained. "We're not just shooting the sh--. We're not, like, just kind of beating around the bush. But really we want to."

Here is the catch. "It's just that I think it's gotten to such a head that if we do something that's not the greatest, it's going to be so anticlimactic," she said. "So we've already thought about it."

Perry then referred to a certain Beyoncé/Shakira duet from back in the day. "There was one reference that I made along the way thinking about, like, the vibe of Aretha Franklin and Annie Lennox from the Eurythmics, 'Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves,' " she explained. "I saw that video the other day, and it's full 1980s something, [it's] prime. But it was just, like, the message was so nice. I love it and no offense, 'cause I love the song 'Beautiful Liar' by Shakira and Beyoncé, but I want to do something a little bit more brave."

Katy, however, does love the sexiness of the "Beautiful Liar" video, which features the girls scantily clad and rolling around with one another. "That's sexy as a hell," she said. "I mean, Beyoncé and Shakira — forget about it."

The "MTV First" will include the premiere of Perry's new video for "Part of Me." The singer will also talk all about her new projects, including Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection, during a 30-minute interview with MTV News' James Montgomery on MTV.com.

Don't miss "MTV First: Katy Perry" tonight, when the pop star will debut her long-awaited video for "Part of Me" at 7:23 p.m. ET on MTV. Then head over to MTV.com for an exclusive 30-minute interview with Katy herself!

Beyonce's Night Out: Breaking Down Her 'Tasteful' Look

Fashion expert weighs in on B's post-baby style during a President Obama fundraiser.

All the single ladies: Put your hands up and show Beyoncé some love for looking so smoking hot just 10 weeks after giving birth to her baby girl, Blue Ivy.

After multiple sightings of the star out and about in NYC since she first emerged at a Jay-Z's post-Carnegie Hall party, the singer got all dolled up to hang out with first lady Michelle Obama in Manhattan on Monday night.

The first lady of hip-hop and the actual first lady gathered at the Greenwich Hotel for a fundraising event for President Obama. Along with raising some dough, Beyoncé also raised eyebrows, thanks to her slamming post-baby body. Decked out in a body-hugging navy dress by Victoria Beckham, B rocked sky-high heels, dazzling bling (including a diamond-encrusted eagle) and her hair pulled back in a simple ponytail. So what was Beyoncé doing right in terms of styling herself as a new mom?

"When you think of all the things women dislike about themselves, the majority don't like their upper arms and also have skirt-length issues, so she's addressed both of these. It's an interesting choice because it's snug, not tight," celebrity stylist Robert Verdi told MTV News about B's post-baby style. "There's a distinction. It's body-flattering, for sure.

"It's also a very tasteful length: 2 inches above the knee. It's also a very conservative color, and it's very covered, but it still remains very sexy," he continued about the look. "You don't see all the bumps that women have post-pregnancy. ... Again, the distinction is it's body-conscious without revealing every lump and bump. Tight ain't right, but this ain't tight. This is body-skimming."

With Beyoncé heading back into the spotlight more and more, including a set of shows planned for Memorial Day weekend, does Verdi think Queen B will reassess her stage style now that she's a mom?

"I don't think we've seen the last of Beyoncé's crotch," he joked about Beyoncé's love for leotards. "She's really young, and ... her equity is in her sex appeal, so you can't dismiss that. She's not going to cover up. I think you've seen a similar evolution with Madonna, where fashion is sexy but is more intellectual. It's not as in-your-face. I think you're going to see the same thing with her. You evolve, but I don't think you stop being an attractive woman because you've had a child."

What do you think of B's post-baby style? Let us know in the comments!

Business Database Continuity Disaster Recovery - bharatbhasha.net

Business should always have a continuity disaster recovery plan to survive any setbacks that can happen. Most of the modern businesses today have switched and relied on digital technology to run their database and processes. This means that most companies today value their database equally with their assets because it is a tool reference for their business systems. Without the database, the business operations can concur big losses because they have to rebuild their processes all over again which will need further costs or capital.

Planning, production, purchase, and even billing have been served using computer processing that lessens the paperwork and save the most precious component of business which is time. When time is saved, production can double and this means more profit in a shorter length of time for any business. Now, if you do not have a good defense against error or loss of database, then it will definitely take time to rebuild the whole business systems. Meanwhile, if you made sure you have your continuity disaster recovery invested, then recovery period would only take a few hours or days and you get your business up and running again in no time.

To make the illustration more easy to relate, just imagine if your accountant has lost all their files of your business billing, purchasing, payroll and other expenses and earnings in their computer. This can happen usually with honest mistakes never unintentional most of the times. Virus infection, hacking, or other technical reasons can be the main causes of the database breakdown.

How do you think you have the other means of recovering the data stored for a few years or months in just days? That can never happen and to most it will take forever to recover the lost data for the company to be operational again. This is because your list of clients, outstanding payable, collections, and other flow of cash history has to be manually encoded into data from the receipts or other reliable documents. This is a scenario you do not want to happen in your company.

That is why most corporations hire separate IT professionals in handling, protecting, and trouble shooting their digital databases. These professionals can cost extra service or payroll charges but you are always reassured of a fast continuity disaster recovery. But do remember that they are the experts in combating threats and building protection for your company database. The data that your business accumulate should always have a back up and is aptly protected by firewalls and anti-hacking security measures to prevent theft, crash, or deletion of your company database.

Nowadays, your business might be paying for information. What you should also be remembering is that you have information and data that others might find valuable. So information is also an aspect of business that is integral and to be treated as part of a company assets. It is always better to be prepared to lessen losses and keep any possible setback from totally ruining your business. Be wise and consider data recovery and protection as part of the components of your business.
